Because You Can NEVER Have Too Many...

I believe a girl should have some variety in her nail polish collection... it's like an extension of your wardrobe after all!  Who better to add to our arsenal than the fabulous Sonia Kashuk of my beloved Target?  Sonia's perfectionist nature assure me that these beauties will not only be gorgeous, but great quality, as they've been in the works for a long time.

At only $3.99 each, it's hard to pick just one from the lineup of amazingly saturated colors.  I'm dying to try the industrial (not glittery!) silver, Smoke and Mirrors, or the gorgeous cobalt blue color Space Cadet, on my feet, and the lovely nude shade In the Buff looks like it could be a classic keeper year-round.

Do you have a favorite new summer shade?  Chime in and let us know what's gracing your nails these days.  And stay tuned for a few more of our fav current colors this week!

"Julep" nails it.

So I am always amazed at how Megan always knows the "it" nail polish color of the moment. Without fail every time I notice her wearing a hot color, I see it featured in a magazine later that day. Ok, maybe not later that day, but shortly thereafter. I unfortunately am not on top of the nail polish trends, but despite my ignorance, this quartet landed right in my mailbox courtesy of popsugar daily and caught my eye. It's a tribute to the new Sex in the City movie and each character has a color. Choose from Carrie (pale pink), Samantha (fuschia), Miranda (seafoam blue-green), and Charlotte (lavender). I never watched the show or saw the first movie but that didn't stop me from falling head over heels for every single one of these shades. Head on over to Julep to see these and other amazing colors. Polish away...

My Mom's DIY project

So I've been meaning to blog about this adorable DIY gift my mom created for some of the moms in her life. Not only are these little "plants" adorable, but also practical and affordable. This would be a great idea for a thank you gift, a teacher’s gift…really any occasion where you want to let someone know you thought of them. All you need is:

Floral tape
Pens- the cheap bic pens work the great.
Faux flowers- this is where you can get creative and use any color or style you choose.
Little flower pot- again the possibilities are endless. You can use little cute bowls, little buckets, mason jars, or the terra cotta pots pictured here.
Ribbon to match.
Filler- My mom used pebbles. You could use seashells, colored sand, glass gems, etc.
Wire cutters or really good scissors.

I'm sure you can figure out how to do it simply based on the photo... But basically you just wrap the tape around the pen and the floral stem. Use a few different lengths of stems to create the floral arrangment look. After putting the filler in the pot, stick the pens in, arrange, and voila!

Ooh La La! A Parisian Theme Shower

I have a small (translated GIGANTIC) crush on the Lollipop Girls. Might be because they get to do what I love to do on the side for an actual job.  Might be cause I just love their name.  But it's most likely because they are so much more incredibly creative than I can imagine.  The party concoctions they come up with are pure delight!

Take this parisian themed baby shower, featured today over on the Hostess Blog.  Candelabras and vintage umbrellas and parasols, along with lush arrangements of anemones, peonies and ranunculus?  Absolutely breathtaking.  I think this theme would be just as ideally suited to a gorgeous bridal shower, or even a lovely birthday dinner party.  I've always thought I might be just as interested in collecting candelabras as cake stands, and this pushes me over the edge!

Wild Child

I am LOVING Baby Gap's new "wild streak" line. I have always been a fan of animal print beginning in 1990 with the zebra print "hammer" pants I wore until they were threadbare. Fast forward to college where my roommate and I had a dorm room covered with zebra and leopard print bedspreads, towels, rugs, throws...you name it.  I don't know what it is...zebra, cheetah, leopard. I just can't get enough of it. Now shrink it down to the tiniest size and what do you get? Absolute Adorableness. And even better?  All of these items are priced between $9 and $22.50.  Not bad!  Here are my favorite picks (I want all of it but settled on a couple of bodysuits to tide me over while I wait for the rest to go on sale!).

How adorable is this swim wear?!  I can't decide between the giraffe or zebra print for Genevieve.  What do you guys think?!

I actually didn't see the giraffe or pink zebra bodysuits before I ordered the one in the middle, which is probably best because I would have ended up with all three!

Oh did I mention that I ordered this giraffe number also? ;)  But I think Genevieve may just need a romper also.  Uh oh.

And don't forget:  It's Tuesday so if you use your Gap card, you can get 10% off.  Just enter the coupon code TUESDAYS when checking out.

Happy Shopping!

No time to Scrapbook? Think again...

So I've been holding out on digital scrapbooking for some time. While I love technology something about it also makes me sad. I miss real pictures. You know--the kind you can actually feel vs. the kind that are displayed on the computer, or worse, on your 3 inch digital camera screen. But to be realistic, who has time? Technology has made it so easy to take pictures that we (or me anyway) take so many more, yet we never do anything with them. I've posted about this before, but here's a different solution. Embrace digital scrapbooking!! There are several sites that help you do this but the one I've become enamored with lately is howfasttimeflies.com. This site is free to use and share and doesn't require any downloads. It's also much quicker than pulling out all of the stickers, rub ons, card stock, and your cricut!

Now, initially it didn't seem much quicker, but as I got used to the software I literally could create a page in 15 to 30 minutes. 30 minutes seems like a long time but with real scrapbooking (or "cropping"--the correct term Megan taught me) it can take that long just to lay out a page, never mind the prep and clean up. So basically any time you crop, you're looking at at least a couple of hours. Now this convenience and ease comes with a price. Although sharing pages is free, purchasing each page costs $5.50* and up. I don't even want to think about how much an entire book of Genevieve's infancy will cost. But honestly, the price tag is worth the keepsake--a beautiful scrapbook versus a bunch of random pictures on my C drive. Maybe I'm just justifying? You decide...

The Long and the Short of it- Resources for Tall Clothing and Petite Clothing

So I wanted to write a note about my favorite resource for tall clothing. I know many of you won't be able to relate to not being able to walk into a store and buy a pair of pants or jeans (like ever) but keep reading because you'll find some helpful information too! Now if I'm being honest, I need to tell you that I used to write for this website/blog but I actually found it super helpful before I began writing for it. In fact I took the time to write the author a note to let her know how much I liked her site and that evolved into my writing the "Diary of a Tall Fashionista" articles.

At http://www.tallclothingmall.com/, you'll find all sorts of links, advice, resources, and best of all coupon codes for tons of stores that carry tall sizes. Now for those of you who are under six feet, there's stuff for you on this site also. I mentioned the coupon codes. Krista (the author) has great relationships with tons of partner stores and oftentimes gets sale alerts and coupon codes before the general public. That means when shopbop has a sale, you can get a pair of designer jeans for 60% off before all the size 29s are gone! And those coupons apply whether you are tall, short, or somewhere in between. In addition, many sites/stores that carry tall sizes also carry petite sizes. So whatever your body type challenge is, you may find something that works for you too!

But for those of you are tall, I don't have to whine to you (oh but I will anyway!) about how annoying it is that you can't find a pair of pants long enough or have to shop online for hours to find a suit with pants that are longer than a 33 inch inseam. ergh. But the good news is, these days at least you CAN find sizes that fit. The one caveat? You MUST be willing to shop online. Sorry you traditional gals--brick and mortar just ain't gonna cut it! And that's where tallclothingmall comes in. It saves you so much time to have a bunch of resources in one place.

The other site I like is http://www.searchbyinseam.com/. On that site you can search for many different types of pants (yoga, maternity, career, etc) by inseam. Why didn't I think of that first?! The great thing about searchbyinseam is that it includes tall and petite sizes and is very simple and easy to navigate.

Both sites have blogs and Krista also has tallsnob.com (for designer tall clothing) and plussizesnob.com (for plus size tall clothing--even harder to find!).

Women of all shapes and sizes should be able to find clothes that fit well and make them feel good about themselves. These resources help us do just that. Enjoy!

Let's Play Dress Up!

I love that paper dolls are no longer just for kids. AND that that paper dolls have gone virtual. The site http://www.looklet.com/ allows you to dress up your very own model in of the moment trends. You can choose from one of 20 models and with that many choices you can probably find one with similar coloring/skin tone as you have. Of course you can buy any item you choose (that's how they get ya!). This site is just perfect for testing out new looks that you're not brave enough to test out at home...or practicing your stylist skills...or just wasting a TON of time, because it's totally addicting. Whatever your goal, you're sure to have a lot of fun in the process. Take a look at "me" and "Meg" and our cute looks!

One word...

Obsessed.

Mint green, black & white striping, and a fabulous fedora style by the simply incredible Eugenia Kim?  Oh, and not to mention the unbelievable $16.99 price tag??

I'd also like to look as chic and effortlessly polished as the model.  It's probably going to take more than a hat to do that, but I can dream.  Check out the entire Eugenia Kim line here or in your local store!
(I'd also love that plaid fedora with the cobalt ribbon that is secured with the cutest little parrot... perfect for a chic Havana getaway.  Or maybe just a quick trip to the grocery store!)
